We Outsiiiddde: Disney Cruise- Bahamas Edition

YAAAAAAASSSSSS! We outside!!! Let me just tell you that after 2 years of no vacation and traveling time due to obvious reasons, this family trip was definitely needed! When deciding where to go, I wanted to pick somewhere that was extremely memorable for the kids, hubby, and I. With that being said, we decided to try out DISNEY CRUISE LINE.  We had previously heard such great things about it, so we decided to see what all the hype was about and let me tell you...Disney Cruise Line understood the assignment!

This was the BEST family vacation! Not only for my kids, but for me and my husband as well! It is so important for us to allow our children to feel the freedom and experience of traveling to other places...Let’s not forget that black families travel too! Our cruise ship was called DREAM and it was such a Dream! Our destination included Nassau and Disney’s Private Island: Castaway Cay!

Preparing to Travel

Booking

For this particular trip I did my research online to see what options were available and then I called to book my trip over the phone!

NOTE FOR MILITARY FAMILIES: Always call to book your trip as they offer an amazing Military Discount that a lot of people do not know to take advantage of! I promise you will not be disappointed!

Packing

Sooooo when it comes to preparing to travel, I try to be as organized as possible with packing 5 suitcases! Packing for the kids is always a nightmare, LOL! Everyone has their own style and can’t leave home without something whether it be a stuffed animal, favorite shoes, or fidget toy (SMH)!  For this trip though...I felt like I procrastinated until the very end LOL! I started packing about 1 week before the trip and I definitely felt all over the place, but it got done so we are all good to go!

COVID-19

As excited as we were to travel, we had to accept the fact that we are no longer traveling in ordinary times! COVID-19 is very alive and still kicking so there were a few protocols in place.  About 5 days or less from your sail date a COVID-19 test is required for each member in your party except if you are vaccinated.  Once you arrive at the port you will undergo another COVID-19 test just minutes before you set sail.  Although this process was long, it was very much necessary! The test results at the port took about 45 minutes to come back.

Each family also had designated port arrival times to ensure proper spacing.

Disney Cruise: Dream

This cruise was absolutely beautiful! We felt the magic the moment we stepped onto the boat with a live show from Mickey and Minnie Mouse welcoming us! The stay was absolutely wonderful! From there we had our safety brief and then it was time to head to our stateroom where we had some nice little gifts awaiting for our children as this was their first Cruise Ever!

The Activities

When I say Disney has thought of everything, that is exactly what I mean! There was something for everyone here! The Live Broadway shows are amazing.  Adult only restaurants, clubs, activities, and pool/spa areas are amazing and needed for those parents that sometimes do not get a break.  The daycare options for the kids were fabulous! The girls loved it and they even had a teen club for my son to enjoy!  Bibbibi Bobbidi Boutique was also amazing! The girls got to be pampered for a day and walk around like the Disney Princess of their choice!  There were Disney characters everywhere which made the experience even better.

All the restaurants were FABOLOUS! The staff was so kind and took the time to remember all of our names! They even remembered the kids favorite drinks!

Here are a few pics from our activities:

Castaway Cay

This island was amazing as well! What I loved about it was the options of doing family activities or adult only activities as they had the same childcare options there as they did on the cruise ship.

My family enjoyed swimming on the beach, snorkeling, riding bikes around the island, and playing basketball (they somehow always find a basketball hoop HAHA!) It was definitely a nice getaway.

Family Importance

Overall, this trip was exactly what the family needed before heading back to school and work! These last few years have not been easy for us as we experienced a deployment and are living through a pandemic.

I will tell you to take the time to enjoy where you are because the memories you create with your family last forever! Continue to pour into your children and give them the opportunity to be kids and experience life as such!

Thank you Disney Cruise Line...we definitely felt the magic!
